National Land Use Act: A Safer Future for All of Us PHOTO CONTEST
November 3, 2014
Many are unaware that the impacts of the tragedies caused by recent typhoons that hit the country, as well as the issue on the Torre de Manila construction that ruins the sight line of the Rizal Monument in Manila, are results of improper land use planning in the Philippines. The effect of improper land use planning was most evident when Typhoon Yolanda, the strongest typhoon that hit the Philippines, claimed thousands of lives, displaced families and communities, and disrupted business and economic activities.
Using the theme “A Safer Future for All of Us” the photo contest will be highlighting effects of proper and improper use of lands, impacts of disasters and climate change, food security, sustainability, and the need for the National Land Use Act.
The Campaign for Land Use Policy Now (CLUP Now!) aims to raise the awareness of the public on the impacts of proper and improper land use planning in the country. Through people’s participation, the importance of proper land use, as well as the urgency of passing the National Land Use Act in the Senate will be highlighted.
The photo contest is open to all residents of the Philippines. Each contestant may submit a maximum of two (2) entries.
Photos should be in digital format (JPEG / RAW), and must not be digitally edited aside from cropping, and adjusting brightness and contrast. Putting watermarks is also not allowed. If the photo is edited, please also send the original file.
All entries should be the contestant’s original work, and should have not been submitted to any other photo contests, or published in any material—print or electronic.
All entries should include the following:
- Photographer’s name and contact details
- Photo caption (no longer than two sentences)
- Setting of the photo (when and where it was taken)
All entries will be uploaded on the CLUP Now! Facebook page for online voting. Online voting will be from December 1 to 6, 2014.
Upon submission of entry, contestants grant the CLUP Now! Network full permission to use the photos in any KAISAHAN and CLUP Now! campaign and IEC materials.
